The wind where your drone flies
Hourly wind and estimated gusts at 30–120 m, rain, visibility, Kp and daylight, scored against your drone’s own limits. Free, no account.
Works in your browser on iPhone, Android and desktop. Add it to your home screen in two taps.
Why pilots switch
Free, with no sign-up
Today and the next 24 hours, your drone, your altitude, the score and the reasons. No account, no ads.
Forecasts that check themselves
We compare recent forecasts with the nearest airport’s METAR, pick the model doing best in your area and show its bias.
Built around your drone
109 drone profiles with the maker’s wind rating, weight and temperature range. Limits are a share of the rating.
What every hour tells you
Drone profiles
Pick your drone and Altiwind uses the maker's wind resistance, weight, temperature range and IP rating to judge every forecast hour against its limits.
The go/no-go score
One label per hour, decided by the worst of seven weather checks against your drone's limits, with a reason chip for every check.
Estimated gusts at your flying height
Altiwind estimates gusts at 30–120 m from the forecast 10 m gusts and the wind aloft. How the estimate works, why gusts matter and its limits.
Kp index for drone pilots
Kp now and a 3-day forecast from NOAA, weighted by your geomagnetic latitude, with a plain GPS line, normal or may be degraded, instead of alarm.
Sun times, twilight and night
Sunrise, sunset, civil twilight, golden hour and a night flag for your spot, computed on your phone with NOAA's solar algorithm. Light and weather only.
The verified forecast badge
Altiwind compares recent forecasts with the nearest airport's METAR wind and gusts, picks the model doing best in your area and shows how far off it runs.
Wind at altitude
See the forecast wind at 30, 60, 90 and 120 m above ground, worked out from weather-model levels, not just the 10 m number most weather apps show.

FAQ
Is Altiwind really free?
Yes. Today and the next 24 hours, a saved spot, your drone profile, the go/no-go score with reasons, Kp now, sun times and the verified badge, with no account and no ads.
How is the wind at 120 m worked out?
From the weather model’s own wind at 10, 80, 120 and 180 m above ground, interpolated on a log scale. Where a model only has 10 m wind we use the standard power law. Gusts aloft are estimated by adding the 10 m gust excess (gust minus mean wind) to the wind at your height, and are always labelled as estimates.
What does “verified” mean?
Altiwind compares the last 6–24 hours of the nearest airport’s METAR reports with 2–3 forecast models, uses the one that has been closest in your area and shows how far off it has been running.
Do I need to install an app?
No. Altiwind runs in your browser and can be added to your home screen on iPhone and Android, where it works like an app and keeps your last forecast offline.
Does Altiwind tell me where I may fly?
No. It is weather guidance only, not for air navigation. Check official airspace information and your local rules before every flight.
